An Eye for Security – Visual Fusion @ Microsoft Global Security

The Hindu Business Line today published a nice write up describing Microsoft’s Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) in Hyderabad. The GSOCs worldwide have a model of utilizing off the shelf technologies from Microsoft (of course), Motorola, and others. The group includes IDV’s Visual Fusion mashup software. The technologies are configured for security operations with the net effect that after the GSOCs have utilized the technologies and see:

…the advantages of low-cost and quick and reliable response, Microsoft sees a business proposition too. The company has begun showcasing the model to the chiefs of security arms and other people to sell the idea.

Whatever goes into these networks doesn’t require any custom-made product or solutions. This will add almost no additional cost to the enterprises. Besides, it will help companies cut costs of multiple security centres and improve operational effectiveness,” Brian Tuskan, Senior Director of Microsoft Global Security, says.

Key here is that the technologies they use, including Visual Fusion, are plug and play, and do not require customization. In this way, GSOC is leading the way in scalability, extensibility, and interoperability.
